B*tch Stole My Garden Hose!
(And the Cool Copper Pot That Stored It)

MISSING: Have you seen these?
This morning when I went to water our small, raised-bed veggie garden, I noticed immediately that someone had run off with our hose and the copper pot that stored it. Visible from the street, the hose and pot sat in the driveway, meaning someone had the nerve to walk down, dismantle it, and because of its hefty weight, lug it up the driveway and, most likely, toss it into the back of a getaway car.

I'm fairly certain that the thief did not look like this.

Besides the absence of the garden loot, the only traces of a trespasser were the small watering can and brick that I'd stored inside the pot. They were discarded, casually tossed onto a patch of morning glory nearby. Apparently, the culprit wasn't as smitten by the tiny galvanized steel watering can as I was.

We emailed neighbors, posted Facebook messages. "I'm sorry for your loss," read some of the comments, as if a close relative had passed away.

The pot was probably sold for scrap metal, but the romantic in me likes to imagine that it's being used in a garden that's as well loved as my own.
